New Zealand vs England 1st ODI Live Cricket Score: New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl on Sunday in the first of three one-day internationals against England, which form part of England’s build-up to the Ashes in Australia, less than a month away.

England welcome back Joe Root, Ben Duckett, and Jamie Smith, who missed the three-match T20 series against New Zealand that was heavily affected by rain. Jofra Archer was available for selection but has been rested. Allrounder Sam Curran and fast bowler Luke Wood also have opportunities to impress ahead of the Ashes.

For New Zealand, Kane Williamson returns after a seven-month break, having last played in an ODI against India in Dubai in March. Opener Will Young, Tom Latham, and Nathan Smith also rejoin the side after missing the T20 series.

New Zealand captain Mitch Santner admitted he was undecided after winning the toss, noting that while the Bay Oval pitch has some grass, it also appears conducive to batting. England captain Harry Brook said he would have chosen to bat if he had won the toss. A strong wind blowing across the ground is expected to influence play.

The first Ashes Test is scheduled in Perth from November 21 to 25.
