Himachal Pradesh officials visit YB Patil Polytechnic to study operational excellence – The Times of India
PUNE: A high-level delegation from the Department of Technical Education, Himachal Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) visited Y B Patil Polytechnic, Akurdi, on December 15, to study the institute’s operational framework and academic practices. The visit aimed to understand systems and models that could be replicated to strengthen technical education and skill development in Himachal Pradesh.The delegation was led by Akshay Sood (HPAS), Director of Technical Education, Himachal Pradesh, along with Ashok Pathak, Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Technical Board. Their presence underscored the state’s focus on learning from nationally recognised institutions.The officials were received by Campus Director Rear Admiral Amit Vikram and Principal Dr A S Kondekar, who welcomed the team and briefed them on the institution’s vision and growth. This was followed by a guided tour of the campus, during which the delegation visited advanced laboratories, the research centre and innovation hubs. The facilities showcased the Polytechnic’s emphasis on hands-on training, applied research and innovation-led learning.Members of the delegation appreciated the quality of infrastructure and the systematic functioning of the institute, noting its consistency with national accreditation benchmarks. Y B Patil Polytechnic is NBA-accredited and is known for integrating academic rigor with industry-relevant training.Later in the day, Dr Kondekar made a detailed presentation highlighting the institution’s achievements, academic initiatives, student outcomes and future plans. The presentation was followed by an extended interactive session with faculty members and students, allowing the visiting officials to gain first-hand insights into teaching methodologies, curriculum delivery and student engagement. The discussion continued for over an hour.The visit concluded with deliberations on possible collaboration, focusing on adapting best practices observed at the Pune-based institute to enhance technical education and skill development programmes in Himachal Pradesh.Akshay Sood expressed gratitude to the institute’s leadership for the hospitality and open exchange of ideas, describing the visit as productive and insightful. Officials noted that the learnings from Y B Patil Polytechnic could contribute meaningfully to policy and institutional reforms in Himachal Pradesh.The visit reaffirmed Y B Patil Polytechnic’s standing as a leading institution in technical education, with its practices drawing attention from policymakers beyond the state.
