JEE Main 2026: NTA confirms calculators not allowed; clarifies typo error in bulletin – The Times of India


JEE Main 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a clarification regarding the use of a virtual or on-screen calculator during the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026.In its official public notice dated November 2, 2025, the NTA stated that although the Information Bulletin initially mentioned the availability of an on-screen standard calculator during the Computer-Based Test (CBT), this feature does not apply to JEE (Main). The agency explained that the mention was part of a generic test conducting platform template, and that the use of calculators (virtual or physical), is strictly prohibited in JEE (Main).

The NTA has since uploaded a revised Information Bulletin for JEE (Main) 2026 on its official website, correcting the typographical error and reaffirming the rules regarding exam conduct.

NTA expresses regret for the error

The notice further reads:“NTA regrets the typographic error in the Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026 and for the inconvenience caused to the candidates.”Candidates can read the official notice here.

JEE Main 2026: Application window open for Session 1

The online application process for JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1, scheduled for January 2026, is already live on the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Session 2 of the examination will be conducted in April 2026.Candidates are advised to download the revised Information Bulletin and regularly visit the official NTA websites: nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in, for the latest updates and clarifications related to the examination.
